Jared

In January of 2000, I was 16 and diagnosed with a germinoma germ cell tumour on my pineal gland (in the brain).  I underwent two brain surgeries, four cycles of chemotherapy and 14 radiation treatments.  I have been clear of the tumour since July of 2000.  Side effects such as fatigue, a whole body tremor, mental processing slowing, and some fine motor impairment are still challenging.

The kayaking trip will be an opportunity to show the world that we are more than just survivors of cancer, we are conquerors.  And more than the challenge of cancer are the difficluties of being a young adult, defining ourselves, starting careers and families while fighting for our lives.  Overcoming these challenges give us wisdom beyond our short years on this Earth and hopefully this trip will be a vehicle to share some of this wisdom with others

Our Mission

To help young adult survivors of severe illness or injury identify, process and apply life lessons through adventure activites.
